Bad breath, also called halitosis, can interfere with one’s social life. It is very embarrassing. It can ruin one’s personality and self-confidence.
Here I will discuss about some easily available ingredients by which you can prepare homemade remedies that are very much effective to stop bad breath.
LEMON – lemon contains citric acid. Acidic content of lemon prevents growth of bacteria and kills bacteria responsible for bad odor of the mouth.
How to use lemon?
Take one cup of water, add two teaspoonful lemon juice, thoroughly rinse your mouth with it for thirty seconds and spit it.
You can also drink lemon juice everyday. Take one glass of water, add two teaspoonful of lemon juice and drink it in the morning after brushing your teeth.
CINNAMON – cinnamon contains cinnamic acid which has strong antibacterial properties that prevents bacterial growth in the mouth that causes bad breath.
How to use cinnamon ?
Method 1 – You may keep one piece of cinnamon in your mouth and chew it.
Method 2 – take one cup of water, add one teaspoonful of cinnamon powder with it, you may also add one piece cardamom with it, boil it, strain it, then use this mixture as a mouthwash twice daily.
You may purchase cinnamon powder from the market or heat cinnamon and then make it powder by grinding.
FENNEL SEEDS – It has strong antibacterial properties. It is rich in antioxidants like chlorogenic acid and limonene.
So to remove bad odour of mouth you can chew some fennel seeds everyday and also when you feel there is bad breath in your mouth. This can immediately change the bad odour of the mouth into sweet odour.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – apple cider vinegar is acidic in nature. Bacteria can not grow in an acidic environment.
Take one cup of water, add two teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar, rinse your mouth with it then spit it. Don’t swallow this mixture.
CARDAMOM & CLOVE – To remove bad breath immediately keep one piece cardamom and one piece clove in your mouth and suck it.
PURE COCONUT OIL – coconut oil contains several fatty acids such as lauric acid, capric acid. It has strong antibacterial, antifungal properties. It also has antioxidant properties and helps wound healing. Rinse your mouth with two teaspoonful of pure coconut oil for one minute then clean your mouth with warm water.
YOGURT – It is prebiotic, contains lactobacillus. Take one cup of yogurt once daily after breakfast or after lunch. It prevents growth of bad bacteria in the body.
PARSLEY – parsley contains chlorophyll that is a natural deodorizer.
How to use parsley ?
You can chew parsley or take two cups of water, add parsley and a few cloves, boil and strain it then use it as mouth wash.
BAKING SODA – baking soda is very much effective to remove bad breath.
How to use baking soda ?
You may use it like toothpaste in your toothbrush or you can take one cup of water add two teaspoonful of baking soda with it and use it as mouth wash.
GREEN TEA – green tea contains phytochemicals. Phytochemicals can prevent bad breath.

Here are some extra tips to prevent bad breath –
Adequate and frequent water intake everyday,
Regular and proper tooth brushing twice daily,
Regular tongue cleaning,
Dental flossing,
Chew cucumber, carrot, sugar free chewing gum for production of more saliva,
Eat green leafy vegetables,
Avoid sugar containing foods and drinks,
Avoid excessive tea, coffee and alcohol,
Use alcohol free mouthwash,
Take one cup of water, add half teaspoonful salt, boil it and gargle two to three times a day,
Keep your partner’s mouth healthy because kissing may spread millions of bacteria in one’s mouth.
